At times it can be fast-paced and you may be working in a pressured environment, responding to an emergency or undertaking a shift on the 24/7 duty rota. Building effective relationships and understanding is key to the role so talking to others, listening and asking questions is just as important as completing tasks.<br><br>A key part of the role is the variety and there is the opportunity to work in partnership with a wide range of internal colleagues at different levels of seniority. You will primarily be working in a business partner relationship with one or more county council directorates, providing specialist advice and expertise. Maintaining an overview of reviews within your half of Hertfordshire with the support of both data and meetings with your team. <br><br> With direct line management responsibility for your areas Team Leads (who in turn, each line manage a team of Education, Health and Care (EHC) Coordinators and Review Officers) you will act as a point of leadership and guidance on SEND matters. You will work in partnership with the other SEND Casework Managers under the leadership of the Service Manager to collectively lead a service of 100+ staff, responsible for 9,000+ children and young people of Statutory School Age who have an EHC Plan. In addition, other elements of the role include, but are not limited to; taking part in strategic meetings, chairing triage and casework surgeries to discuss your teams cases, undertaking periodic school visits, overseeing the transfer of children and young people from one phase of education to another (e.g. primary to secondary) and deputise for the Service Manager in their absence. Additionally, you will be a key operational decision maker within the SSAS Team. <br><br><b>About you</b><br><br> <strong>Essential</strong>:<ul>\n<li>Experienced Manager of both people & strategy in a SEN(D) environment</li>\n<li>Excellent evidenced knowledge of part 3 of the Children & Families Act 2014 and related legislation (e.g. The Equality Act)</li>\n<li>Experience of working in a SEND role, preferably within a casework environment</li>\n<li>Ability to motivate and support a team to deliver towards a shared vision</li>\n<li>Excellent stakeholder & relationship management skills</li>\n<li>Demonstrate experience of partnership working with people from a range of backgrounds</li>\n<li>Understanding of the operational realities of delivering statutory SEND processes at scale and ability to provide advice and instruction to junior staff on their own portfolio of children</li>\n<li>Valid full UK driving licence and regular access to a car are required for this role.</li>\n</ul><br><br>This job role is within the Health and Social Care Services, level HSC13 job profile.
