You will also support the field based staff so it could involve preparing work packs, giving them instructions, and making sure they are fully occupied during the day by issuing work when required. This work will may involve printing/photocopying works instructions, but we will be moving over to a digital platform so that work will eventually transition to managing a software platform.
\n
The role will also involve helping to manage the office environment, so receiving phone calls, dealing with emails, assisting visitors and dealing with deliveries, as well as general office management such as managing the stationary cupboard ordering items as required, managing the tea room supplies, auditing/ordering the PPE supplies, ordering cleaning products, testing the fire alarm, keeping an eye on site housekeeping/cleaning. There will be a variety of bespoke software packages to work on, notably the finance system, but any applicant will need to be familiar with Outlook, Word and notably Excel, not to any advanced level but confident navigating basic spreadsheets. We are transitioning over to Microsoft 365 so in time Teams, Whiteboard, One Note and Sharepoint, all training will be provided.
\n
Due to the nature of the roles undertaken by the rest of the staff based at the depot the office can be busy, or occasionally you could be the only person on site, and being a depot it will also present a differing work culture to a traditional office, so any applicant will need to be very confident, independent and assertive to thrive in that variable and sometimes unconventional environment.
\n
This is a part time post alternating with the existing post holder who is going part time, and who will be fully available to offer all the mentoring required. Initially we would be looking at working Thursdays/Fridays but there may be some opportunity to be flexible on this depending on business requirements.
\n
The team also manage out of hours work and assistance may be required to deal with those situations, which could be something very occasional and small like waiting around for an hour for a delivery to arrive, to large issues like the city centre flooding which may require compulsory overtime, but that is exceptionally rare.
\n
We offer an excellent package of benefits including:
\n
\n
Employer paid health cash plan
\n
Cycle to Work and Car Benefit salary sacrifice schemes
\n
Competitive annual leave per year
\n
Flexible working arrangements (occasional subject to depot duties being covered)
\n
13 days additional flexi leave per year (subject to operational requirements)
\n
Option to buy up to 5 days additional annual leave
\n
Free parking
\n
Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
\n
Discounted membership at the two leisure centres in the district
\n
Confidential Employee Advice and Support Programme
\n
Employee retail and shopping discounts
\n
Season Ticket Loans
\n
Excellent working environment
\n
Support for continuous professional development
\n
\n
For enquiries please contact Darren Lewis, Service Lead - Engineering on 01962 848571 or via email at dlewis@winchester.gov.uk.
","shortDescription":"","salaryDescription":"£10,396 - £11,265 pro rata, per annum (£25,992 - £28,163 full time equivalent)","publishDate":"2025-01-03T11:33:00.000Z","expirationDate":"2025-02-02T11:33:00.000Z","logoUri":"https://www.lgjobs.com/logos/logos/5b18c462-74a3-42c3-a25b-3b6e0de3f63f.png","score":1,"featured":false,"enhanced":false},{"id":"f804c630-fcbc-43ea-863f-1511aead1ae4","title":"Trainee Solicitor","employer":"Winchester City Council","department":"","location":"Winchester City Council","locationType":2,"description":"

\n
Following a restructure of the Legal Services Team, Winchester City Council are seeking applicants for the following roles.
\n
\n
Service Lead-Legal
\n
Senior Property Lawyer
\n
Senior Litigation and Licensing lawyer
\n
Senior Housing and Litigation lawyer
\n
Contract Lawyer
\n
Trainee solicitor (two posts)
\n
\n

\n
Candidates must have an innovative commercial approach to ensuring the delivery of a high quality in-house legal service.
