Your New Role

The project will survey multiple locations across Hampshire where troop camps were based prior to the Normandy landings in June 1944. Work will also involve research into the individuals who were based at these camps and make this data available to a public audience.
The project will look to provide a range of volunteering opportunities to both individuals and partner organisations and engage the wider public in the work of the project.
Reporting to the Museum Development Officer, you will be responsible for recruiting and coordinating the volunteers who will deliver and participate in the Discovering Hampshire's Hidden D-Day Heritage project; and to bring the results of the project to local communities. This will include training volunteers in conduction survey of troop camp sites and leading archaeological walking surveys of troop cam sites and writing archaeological reports. You will liaise with various stakeholders detailing any finds located during surveys. In addition, you will engage community groups with the project e.g. talks, guided walks, volunteer recruitment, other outreach etc.
