This is a key place-shaping role working across teams to deliver the council's vision for a greener, cleaner and more equitable borough.<br><br><b>About the Role</b><br> <br>We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and experienced biodiversity professional who will develop and lead a varied programme of work to deliver nature recovery in Waltham Forest. <br> <br>This means a strong understanding of and interest in biodiversity issues, from policy through to monitoring and maintenance and demonstrable experience in achieving positive change.<br> <br>The right person will work effectively across teams to embed biodiversity into decision making. They will communicate ideas and proposals to a range of audiences to inspire creative problem solving and meaningful joined up action.<br> <br>As our technical expert on biodiversity and nature recovery you will be responsible for overseeing monitoring and reporting against the Council's new statutory duties in the Environment Act and for providing leadership on ensuring Biodiversity Net Gain delivers genuine benefits for the borough.<br> <br>Climate Action is a top Council priority, as set out in the 2022 Climate Action Plan to dramatically reduce the carbon emissions in our borough. This is a huge challenge, but we have strong political support and are clear that nature recovery is central to the mission.
