Your New Role
Discovering Hampshire's Hidden D-Day Heritage is an upcoming project delivered in partnership by the D-Day Story Museum and the Portsmouth D-Day Museum Trust. It will survey multiple locations across Hampshire where troop camps were based prior to the Normandy landings in June 1944. Work will also involve research into the individuals who were based at these camps and make this data available to a public audience.
The project will look to provide a range of volunteering opportunities to both individuals and partner organisations and engage the wider public in the work of the project.
Reporting to the Museum Development Officer, you will be responsible for the overall coordination and management of the Discovering Hampshire's Hidden D-Day Heritage project. You will monitor the project plan, ensuring it is delivered on time and in budget against the Project Plan as presented to the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF). You will assist with the Volunteer and Community Participation manager with the training of volunteers as well as arranging meetings of and providing up to date management reports and financial forecasts to the Project Board.
For a full list of key responsibilities please refer to the job profile.
What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and self motivated individual who is resilient and prepared to see tasks through to the finish. You will have a good eye for details and be able to use your initiative, anticipating problems and finding alternative solutions. Competent in IT, you will have good organisational skills, be able to prioritise tasks and excellent interpersonal and written communication skills as well as confident presentation skills. You will have experience of working to a budget and project management (although project management qualifications are not necessarily required).
