A permanent opportunity for an Early Years Lead / Reception Class Teacher has arisen at our school following the resignation of our current outstanding leader who has been in post since 2014. We are looking for an outstanding, enthusiastic practitioner to ensure all our pupils get the best start in their education and achieve a good level of development.
The Governors are looking to employ a committed, reflective and experienced Early Years Lead / Reception Class Teacher, full time, (32.5 hours per week) who will lead, manage, develop and maintain high quality teaching and provision across our Early Years and to teach in Reception class.
This as an exciting opportunity for an experienced Reception class teacher to work at our school, as a leader who is dedicated to providing the best outcomes for all of our pupils.
Our school is an inclusive one-form entry, Church of England primary school with a Nursery in Netherton, Bootle.

We are looking for someone who:
- Is an outstanding practitioner
- Has a strong background and specialist qualification in Early Years
- Has commitment and passion for inclusion, ensuring individual pupil needs are identified early and are met through targeted provision
- Has successfully led a subject across the whole school
- Has undertaken NPQ in leadership or is prepared to undertake the training
- Has worked effectively with external agencies
- Has a desire to work closely with families to enhance children’s experiences
- Is a team player, able to inspire others to approach their practice creatively so that all learners believe in themselves
- Will work strategically alongside the Leadership Team in the school
- Will work with teachers to help to monitor pupil progress throughout the key stages and drive up standards
You will bring a real passion to raising the achievement and outcomes for our pupils, working alongside the Early Years team and ensure that the needs of all pupils are met within the classroom. You will work with a range of outside agencies to complement the work undertaken by our dedicated staff as well as overseeing our experienced team Teaching Assistants.
Within this post an Early Years Leader is expected to
- Fulfil the duties of a teacher as outlined in the most recent School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.
- Work with full regard for and an understanding of expectations within the Teacher Standards 2017 as outlined in STCPD Annexe 1.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promote the welfare and safety of children as outlined in school policies and ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children 2016.’
- Train and undertake the role of Designated Leader for safeguarding of Early Years pupils.
- Participate fully in the school appraisal system including the evaluation of their own practice.
- Undertake role of performance management leader for support staff in Early Years.
In addition to the responsibilities of class teacher, as set out by the class teacher job description and the school teachers’ pay and conditions document, the holder of the post is expected to carry out the professional duties of a subject leader with responsibilities as described below, as circumstances may require and in accordance with the school’s policies under the direction of the head teacher

- To lead, manage, develop and maintain high quality provision in a subject, ensuring quality teaching, excellent learning outcomes and success for all pupils.
- To model effective teaching, to coach and train colleagues and to teach across the school.
- To keep all aspects of paperwork including records and policies, up-to-date and actioned, as appropriate.
