About the role
Headstart School is an ambitious Independent special needs school which was established in 1999. It has a proven track record of success with learners on the Autistic Spectrum including those with complex needs. We have students from age 9 to 16 and following onto our Post 16 courses up to the age of 21. Headstart School has the benefit of two sites: both situated in the East Sussex countryside, one on the outskirts of the village of Ninfield and the other at Golden Cross, both with their own mini-farm, small animal and pet area and horticultural area.
Our fantastic school is looking for a Site Maintenance Person and Farm Technician. The role will be mainly based at our Golden Cross site.
Main Purpose
Site Maintenance
- The site maintenance is responsible for:
- Maintaining clean, safe and secure school premises, which includes buildings and grounds
- Carrying out cleaning, handyperson activities, routine maintenance and refurbishment, porterage, and minor repairs
- Some supervision of school cleaning staff
- Promoting health and safety around the school
- All other aspects of site management, such as supervising external contractors, and site use and development planning.
Farm Technician
- The farm technician is responsible for:
- Taking responsibility of the welfare of all animals on the Oakfield Farm Site.
- Following a rigorous system to check, maintain and enhance the health and welfare of the animals.
- To maintain and improve the on-site facilities for animals.
- To create an engaging and interactive site for students and animals to engage safely.
- Undertake such duties as are delegated by the Executive Headteacher
