The Role
North Somerset Council Children's Centres are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Caretaker to become an integral part of our dynamic team. This part-time position involves working 20 hours per week, with shifts scheduled from Monday to Friday, 07.00am - 09.00am and 16.30 - 18.30pm. This person will be based at Ashcombe Children's Centre, but will also be required to do some duties, at times, in other Centres across North Somerset.
The Caretaker will assist the Family Wellbeing Lead in ensuring the safe and efficient management of all aspects of daily facilities operations at the Centre. Responsibilities include site maintenance, compliance, non-structural repairs, heating, ventilation, safety, security, and maintaining cleanliness across the premises.
The ideal candidate will be professional, self-motivated, and capable of working independently using their initiative. They should thrive in a fast-paced, demanding role and bring a broad range of practical skills to support site maintenance and improvement works. This is also a physically active job role with some lifting.
The successful candidate will possess exceptional organisational and time management skills. They will approach tasks with a logical, resourceful, proactive, and efficient mindset. Confident in communication, they will excel at building and maintaining professional relationships with colleagues and other Partners of the Centre, always demonstrating a positive attitude and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
