Chelmsford City Council are recruiting a Building Control Officer to join our Building Control Services Team.
The Building Control Officer will work as part of a team responsible for assisting in the enforcement of the Building Regulations. Responsibilities include assessing plans for compliance with the Building Regulations and undertaking site visits to inspect building works under construction as well as keeping accurate records relating to all decisions made. The successful applicant will also provide advice to construction professionals, building owners and members of the public.
The ideal applicant will have an excellent knowledge of construction technology and the building process as well possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills, IT literacy skills and possess a full driving licence with access to a vehicle.
Applicants must possess a relevant Building Technology qualification and a sound knowledge of the relevant provisions in The Building Act 1984, The Building Safety Act 2022, Building Regulations 2010 and associated Approved Documents. It is expected that applicants have a full or associate membership with RICS, CABE or CIOB as well as be registered with Building Safety Regulator as a class 2 Registered Building Inspector.
