About the role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the Pollution Team to lead on the Council's air quality improvement works. We're looking for someone with a can do attitude.
Working with key stakeholders, the successful candidate will coordinate the delivery of the Council's air quality action plan and take a lead role on air quality improvement projects work by the team such as anti idling and school air quality audits.
As a principal Environmental Health Officer/Air Quality Officer you will have a high level knowledge of air quality management, be an expert and carry out air pollution investigation, monitoring control and enforcement with a proven track record in delivery. Check and maintain the Council’s air pollution monitoring stations and equipment, carry out monitoring, collect data, interpret trends.
You will be expected to take a lead role in seeking external funding (e.g. DEFRA air quality fund, MAQF etc..) to implement air quality improvement projects in the borough.
To successfully fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the role, you will carry a caseload prioritising and programming work and making day-to-day decisions on cases as required.You will be expected to carry out office based work, as well as site visits to undertake complaint investigations such as smoke, dust, odour statutory nuisance.
