About the role
Classroom Teacher (primary or secondary trained) with experience of teaching pupils/students with complex SEND.
MPS/UPS + SEN1 and the possibility of TLR with specific additional accountabilities for the right, appropriately experienced candidate.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, flexible and innovative teacher for our KS3 class for students with significant and complex learning difficulties and speech, language and communication needs.
St Mary’s is a popular and successful residential special school and college for pupils/students aged 5 to 19 with speech, language and communication needs, learning difficulties and other associated SEND.
We welcome applications from highly successful and experienced primary, secondary, mainstream or special school teachers. We are especially interested in hearing from candidates who have successfully worked with children with complex SEND in their current or previous experience. We ask candidates to please identify aspects of particular strength and successful experience when applying.
We would like to appoint teachers who are able to adapt well to new challenges and are committed to raising achievement and who have the ability to demonstrate outstanding practice and high ambition for our pupils/students. The successful candidate will be especially skilled in adapting planning, implementing additional support programs to meet pupils’/students’ specific needs.

The successful candidates will demonstrate:
- An understanding & interest in SEND, with experience in working with pupils/students requiring additional support in accessing the curriculum;
- The ability to ensure aspirational pupil/student progress for all pupils/students, regardless of their prior attainment, which at St Mary's is significantly below age related expectations;
- The ability to work effectively within a team, providing direction to support staff delivering targeted intervention programmes.
Additional information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
