Join our dynamic Transport Operations Team, dedicated to managing and providing essential transport services across Staffordshire.
We ensure safe and reliable home-to-school transport, special educational needs (SEN) transport, supported local bus services, and community/voluntary transport schemes. Every day, we transport approximately 7,000 pupils to school using over 100 transport providers, including taxis, private hire vehicles, minibuses, coaches, and buses.
We have two positions available: 1x full time, 6 months fixed term and 1x full time permanent.
Main ResponsibilitiesAs a SEN Travel Assistance Officer, you will play a crucial role in planning, monitoring, and delivering high-quality transport services for pupils with special educational needs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Administering SEN travel assistance
- Developing cost-effective SEN travel assistance services
- Creating travel assistance programmes aligned with Education, Health, and Care Plans to achieve the best outcomes for young people
Key Responsibilities:
- Service planning, monitoring, and client assurance
- Operational delivery and ensuring services are auditable
- Assisting in the development of value-for-money SEN travel assistance services
- Implementing travel assistance programmes in line with Education, Health, and Care Plans
We are looking for someone with previous experience in a transport or SEN setting.
You should have:
- Attention to detail and the ability to approach tasks calmly and objectively
- Experience in schools, transport planning, or a SEND environment (advantageous but not essential)
