About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who would like to step up to a practice manager position with the support of an experienced practice manager already in post. The successful candidate will co-manage the Eastbourne North Family Support Team who are based in St Mary’s House, Eastbourne. They would be working alongside an existing practice manager who is returning from maternity leave.
The Family Support teams provide safeguarding and support to children subject to Child In Need plans, Child Protection Plans and those subject to care proceedings. You’ll be nurturing a dynamic and supportive team to help them build relationships with families, reduce risks and support positive change over time using our established connected practice model which underpins the work across our service.
You may already be a manager or be ready to take your first step into this area, but whatever your experience you will need to be able to contribute to a management team that provide motivation and professional leadership, ensuring that the service provided is safe and effective.
We are looking for candidates who can:
- Communicate effectively in highly charged, complex and challenging circumstances to support professional decision making.
- Promote the use of evidence and theory to support practice in a variety of circumstances.
- Provide professional and reflective supervision to social work staff.
Within this role you will need to thrive under pressure, be confident in your decision making and understanding of risk and be creative and driven in your approach to problem solving. The post holder needs to be sensitive, directive, calm and containing.
The successful candidate will have strong multi-agency working skills, some experience of supervision of staff, be a confident motivator and hold a professional social work qualification ideally with a background in Locality social work.
The post will be mainly office based with some opportunity for home working according to the needs of the service.
