About the role

The Modern Records team provide the records management service for East Sussex County Council. Our services are also used by schools, and a range of external customers.
The way we work and the systems we use allow us to store and retrieve paper records in a safe and efficient way.
The team responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Record Centre, based at Alder Close in Eastbourne, is small and friendly.
A typical day working as a Records Clerk will include:
- working at height to retrieve and deposit boxes of records
- checking record deposits and listing them onto our computer system
- completing outgoing file requests in a timely fashion
- meeting standards for Subject Access Requests (SARs) and Freedom of Information requests (FOI)
- liaising with all ESCC departments, providing support and guidance when required
We are looking for candidates who:
- have a ‘can-do’ and organised approach to their work
- can provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers
- can accurately input and check computer data
- have basic ICT knowledge including Outlook, Excel and SharePoint
- are prepared to work at height and undertake mobile electronic work platform (MEWP) training.
- are prepared to undertake first aid training
- have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
