About the role
We are a thriving and successful small Church of England rural school just on the border of Haywards Heath in the Ashdown Forest.
We are looking for a Caretaker to work fifteen hours per week, we can offer flexibility on the hours worked. More hours may be available should the successful applicant wish to take on additional cleaning responsibilities.
You will be a friendly and caring person who can communicate easily with a wide range of audiences e.g. parents, governors, staff, pupils and contractors.
You would be responsible for:
- carrying out weekly health and safety checks, full training would be provided.
- carrying out non-specialist building maintenance work, e.g. plumbing, carpentry, decorating etc., where such work is agreed as being within the reasonable capacity of normal handyperson/DIY Skills with strict adherence to Health and Safety regulations.
- during school closure periods you would undertake various jobs which it is difficult to do while the children are in school.
- You will need to manage your own workload by prioritising to meet deadlines whilst also ensuring that lower priority jobs are kept up to date.
- You will be able to work in an organised and methodical manner and have previous experience of completing property maintenance tasks.
