Building Control Officer

Hours: 37 Hours per week

Salary: SK 14-16 (currently £39,027 - £42,930 per annum) plus £4,000 market supplement (to be reviewed on a two-year basis) plus call out allowance

Contract: Permanent

 

To undertake technical assessments/activities (on Class 2A buildings) and make decisions on those assessments, using skill, knowledge, experience and behaviour that would have been gained through qualifications and practical experience, to effectively deliver the Building Control function throughout the Council’s jurisdiction and as part of any partnering or similar scheme, ensuring buildings comply with the relevant regulatory standards in terms of health, safety, sustainability, energy conservation, accessibility and design.

 

To be able to effectively manage a range of projects within Class 2A, examining plans and carrying out site inspections, initiating and assisting with enforcement action. 

 

As part of on-going development, deal with a range of Class 2B – 2F projects under supervision.

 

Assessing dangerous structures and implementing immediate remedial works.

 

Where appropriate and within limits of competence to provide supervision and management of the work of others within the Building Control sections management framework, e.g. Class 1 Registered Building Inspectors.

 

You will be expected to work in accordance with the Councils employment rules, Codes of Conduct, as well as the Registered Building Inspector Code of Conduct.
