About the role

At Oakwood Primary Academy, the pupils and staff are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Level 2 qualified Nursery Practitioner to be based within our school nursery.

Oakwood Primary Academy is a two-form entry primary school in Eastbourne, for pupils aged 4-11 with over 300 pupils on roll. The majority of our pupils come from the local community – a community we are proud to serve. We are a school that has undergone huge, transformational change, having been rated as a “Good” school, in all areas, at our most recent Ofsted inspection in October 2022. We are proud of what has been achieved but are committed in continuing to raise outcomes and standards of all our pupils.

Oakwood Primary has a Foundation Village for pupils in our Nursery, Reception and Year One classes and in our main school building we have classes for Year 2 to Year 6. We have extensive grounds, bordered by trees, and an area for sport, that our children enjoy using.

Oakwood Primary is part of Aurora Academies Trust, an organisation that is committed to nurturing and developing talent. It is an exciting time to be joining Aurora. Our seven schools spanning nursery, primary and secondary provision are all judged to be good or better by Ofsted. The Aurora school improvement model has really taken off in recent years and is helping to ensure that pupils in our schools benefit from the best possible standard of education. Our Aurora curriculum has been developed in house and is used consistently across our schools.

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • have a passion for working with pre-school aged children (ages 2-4)
  • have a level 2 qualification in early years
  • have a desire to help improve outcomes for every child
  • have excellent communication skills
  • have up-to-date knowledge of the EYFS
  • are a great team player

In return for your commitment and dedication, we are pleased to be able to offer:

  • collaborative CPD opportunities
  • further study opportunities, e.g. a level 3 Early Years qualification
  • a well-resourced nursery
  • a working environment where everyone is determined to achieve best outcomes for every child
  • a supportive central Trust team
  • Aurora Advantage Scheme - a generous benefits package including discounts to high-street shops, online GP appointments, well-being support, cycle-to-work scheme, access to free and confidential advice on a range of topics, and more.

The working hours will be 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, during term time.

Visits to the school are welcomed; kindly contact Mrs Susan Hubbard, School Business Manager, on shubbard@oakwoodpa.org.uk.

Aurora Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults, and all appointments are subject to enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks and satisfactory references.

Aurora Academies Trust is also committed to promoting equality, challenging discrimination and developing community cohesion. We welcome applications from all sections of the community.
