About the role
Harbour Primary and Nursery School is a local authority school located in the East Sussex town of Newhaven, near Brighton. With just under 500 children aged 2-11, we are a large school, with a small school feel.
In our most recent Ofsted inspection in November 2019, we maintained our Good rating and our Outstanding rating in our Early Years provision.
The Board of Governors seek to appoint a new head teacher to succeed our current headteacher who is retiring.
You will have proven senior leadership skills with the ambition, creativity and skill set to build on our school’s many strengths and provide the strategic vision. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential in order to inspire staff, parents and pupils to aim for excellence across all aspects of the school.
You will encourage our children to “Always be Curious” and give “Every child, every chance, every day”.
We can offer:
- engaged and happy pupils who enjoy learning and behave well
- committed and supportive colleagues who encourage innovation and creativity
- a very engaged Parents-Teachers Association (PTA)
- a fully supportive and active governing board with a wide range of skills
- a well-resourced and financially stable school
We are extremely proud of our school and know that we offer children a really good start in life. We want a leader who celebrates what we have already achieved and can offer additional opportunities to enhance the Harbour experience for our children, staff and the local community. Is this you?! Visits to the school for prospective candidates are both recommended and warmly welcomed. Even if you have not been considering a move, why not come and visit us to find out more about this great opportunity to be a leader in our community.
For an informal discussion about the role and to book a visit contact the Chair of Governors, Anthony Mayo via the clerk of Governors on 01273 514532 or via email: clerk@harbour.e-sussex.sch.uk
