We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to work within the ‘Barnsley Recovery Steps’ team. The ideal candidate will have an excellent understanding of The Care Act 2014, The Mental Health Act 1983, The Mental Capacity Act legislation as well as sound understanding in Human Rights. You will have strong social work values that lead your practice in working alongside people to achieve the best outcomes possible. You will also apply strengths-based interactions within direct work to develop confidence and skills to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes for the future.
We are interested in applicants who ideally have experience of, and a passion to work with individuals who are struggling with substance and Alcohol misuse and may also be experiencing mental health difficulties.
In addition to general social work duties the role will also include:
- Attendance at BRS (recovery steps) MDT to offer Social Work support around complex cases.
- Attend joint home visits with BRS staff where Social Care/ Safeguarding concerns are identified.
- Support access to assessment for service users within Adult Social Care/Complete assessments
- Support the Safeguarding supervision process for BRS staff.
- Be proactive in supporting the wider integrated care system to develop knowledge and skills cross sectors, this will include close working relationships with police, hospital safeguarding teams etc.
- Be a specialist lead to the team, providing advice and consultation on risk, safeguarding and complex cases.
- Provide professional accountability for complex decision making and work collaboratively with the multi- disciplinary team to establish safe and effective ways to work with people.
- Offer quality assurance and on-going learning to support the team with completion of effective referrals and sustaining effective referral pathways
- Contribute to team learning by participating in incident reviews and investigations (including the death of service users)
