The Council’s Strategic Housing Service, in partnership with the Probation Service, is looking to recruit a Housing Navigator to provide assistance to those who are under the supervision of the Probation Service and at risk of homelessness.
This is a new role, employed by the Council but working and located within both the Strategic Housing Service and the local Probation team, providing advice and assistance about housing options with a focus on the prevention of homelessness to clients of both organisations. This will also involve working with a wide range of other organisations, both statutory and voluntary and acting as liaison between Housing and Probation staff.
The successful applicant will have knowledge of both the criminal justice and housing systems, excellent administrative skills and the ability to engage and work in a flexible way, sometimes with people who are dealing with challenging and complex situations.
The postholder will be required to work 37 hours per week, spending time equally within the Housing and Probation teams in Chelmsford and in other locations as required.
