About the role
REQUIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
SCHOOL CARETAKER
Full time post – 37 hours per week (working hours – split shift 7-11.30am and 3pm-6pm).
Due to the retirement of our current caretaker we are seeking to appoint a committed person to provide an effective caretaking/handyperson service for our school.
Duties include:
- Acting as main key holder opening up the school every morning and ensuring the grounds are free from litter, clean and tidy.
- General building maintenance and refurbishment.
- Site security and safety.
- Supervision of cleaning staff and contractors.
- Minor repairs and DIY.
- Maintain cleaning materials and supplies within school, some cleaning duties.
- General upkeep of the school grounds.
- Complete and record health and safety checks and service contracts including alarm systems, heating, PAT testing etc.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has good verbal and electronic communications skills.
- Is able to use initiative, prioritise tasks.
- Understands Health and Safety and COSHH Regulations in relation to schools (training can be provided if required). Responsible for undertaking premises related risk assessments.
- Has Good DIY skills.
Applicants need to be willing to undertake training necessary for the post. Previous experience and a working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations would be an advantage, but not essential, as a supportive induction period will be provided.
