We have exciting opportunities for 6 roles within our pool of Sessional Workers covering the picturesque district of the Staffordshire Moorlands, across Children Services.
We are looking for motivated people who are passionate about providing an outstanding service to the Children and their families, we work with. Our people are central to everything we do and so we’ll make sure you’re well supported and given the opportunity to develop and progress and a thorough induction will be offered on successful appointment to a sessional post.
The annual salary is grade 6 Salary £26,409 which is pro rata to the hours you work at £13.05 per hour and for any travel we will reimburse you at 0.45p per mile paid from home.
This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check with children's barred list check.
Main Responsibilities
In this role you'll be helping children, young people, and families. You'll take them to places like school, appointments, family visits, and fun activities while working with and under the guidance of social workers.
You'll watch over family visits, give help to families and carers, and join children in community activities like games or outings. You'll also teach families and young people useful skills for daily life, and look after children while their parents are busy in meetings or groups. It's important to write down what you do each time and follow the policies and procedures that keep children safe. You'll also work with your team in meetings and training to develop your knowledge and skills.
The Ideal Candidate
You'll need to have:
- English and Maths to GCSE level or equivalent
- NVQ Level 3 in working with Children and Young People or equivalent is desirable, though not essential
- Good communication and the ability to interact with all types of people and the ability to stay calm in challenging situations
- An understanding of how to safeguard children
- Be able to support children in maintaining a relationship with their parent/family who they may not be currently living with during sessions which we call 'Family time'
- Ability to use basic IT resources such as Microsoft Word
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Confidence and ability to drive short and long distances
- Flexible to work evenings and weekends
But above all, you will bring the desire to work with children and families to give them the right support, at the right time with the aim in supporting in keeping families together where it is safe to do so.
