About the role
St Albans Museums is an award-wining local authority funded museum service that manages and operates a number of historic and cultural sites. These include Verulamium Museum, the Hypocaust, the 15th century Clock Tower and the dynamic St Albans Museum + Gallery, at the heart of the city centre.
We are now looking for an organised and creative individual to cover the role of Commercial Services Manager whilst the permanent postholder is on maternity leave.
As the lead for commercial activity across the Museum Service, you will monitor and grow the income generating elements of the service, overseeing retail, venue hire, and contract management of a new café and catering partner.
You will manage and develop new and existing income streams to support the wider work of the Museums Service during an ambitious period of growth.
About you
We are looking for an exceptional candidate with previous experience of managing commercial activity within museums and galleries. Creative, income driven, and a motivating leader, you will have great organisational skills and be able to manage tight budgets and resources effectively.
You will be joining during an exciting period of NPO funded activity and will be responsible for managing the delivery of part of this programme as well as the core commercial activity.
Flexible working patterns can be arranged to meet the needs of the successful candidate. However, as part of the Museum Management Team, some onsite weekend and evening event working will be required.
St Albans is a unique English Cathedral City with a colourful history which can be seen in the Roman remains and variety of beautiful architecture, heritage sites and conservation areas.
