We are seeking an experienced, trauma-informed Learning Mentor to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with targeted children, providing vital emotional and academic support that empowers them to achieve their full potential.
Working Hours are 8.30-3.15 Monday-Friday, 39 weeks a year (Term Time only).
About the role
Purpose of the Role:
To become a part of our support staff team, working alongside our SENCO. The role of the Learning Mentor will be to address the emotional and behavioural needs of pupils who require support to overcome the barriers to learning they experience both inside and outside the school, in order that they are able to achieve their full potential. The role will involve working with children of all ages in our primary school through group activities, 1:1 support and support in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Individual and Group Needs: Build strong, trusting relationships with children to provide tailored mentoring support, helping them to overcome barriers to learning.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to children experiencing emotional, social or behavioural challenges
- Help children develop strategies to manage their emotions, improve behaviour and engage with their learning
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere where all students feel valued and supported
- Lunchtime Engagement: Facilitate structured activities for targeted children during lunchtimes, promoting positive- Dynamic Problem Solving: Think on your feet to adapt strategies and approaches to meet the diverse and changing needs of our pupils.
- Collaborative Approach: Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to create a consistent support network for our children.
About You:
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in working with primary aged children, particularly those with additional needs or experiencing trauma.
- Trauma-Informed: Knowledgeable about the impact of trauma and skilled in creating a safe, nurturing environment.
- Resilient and Adaptable: Able to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with confidence and empathy.
- Dynamic and Creative: Excels at engaging children through innovative and flexible approaches.
- Proactive and Team-Oriented: Thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to the well-being and development of every child.
