About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Community Schemes & Project Delivery team. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering transport and traffic schemes across the London Borough of Hounslow. This fixed-term post is responsible for managing the end-to-end process of scheme delivery from feasibility and design to implementation ensuring alignment with council policies and community needs.
Working collaboratively with internal teams, external consultants, and stakeholders such as Hounslow Highways, you will lead projects, with a strong focus on road safety, sustainable transport, and public engagement. Your work will directly contribute to the Council’s Local Implementation Plan and strategic transport objectives, including casualty reduction and improved accessibility.
This role offers great scope for professional development, including the opportunity to manage high value, complex projects and broaden your expertise in engineering design, stakeholder engagement, and project leadership within a supportive and collaborative environment.
About The Team You’ll Be Working In
The successful candidate will be joining the Community Schemes & Project Delivery team is part of the Transport and Parking Division within the Environmental Services Directorate. The team is responsible for designing and delivering community-focused transport and traffic schemes that improve safety, accessibility, and sustainability across Hounslow.
The team is made up of skilled professionals including engineers, project managers, and technicians, all working collaboratively to deliver projects from initial concept through to completion. You will report to the Team Leader – Community Schemes & Project Delivery and will also work alongside colleagues from other council departments, Transport for London, and external consultants to ensure the successful delivery of schemes aligned with local and strategic objectives.
About You

- A strong collaborator who can lead and support a team while building effective working relationships across the council and with external partners.
- Confident managing projects from start to finish, including budget oversight, design, consultation, and delivery.
- Skilled at translating technical information into clear advice and reports for different audiences, including residents, councillors and contractors.
- Comfortable using design software such as AutoCAD and able to interpret technical drawings and engineering plans.
- Able to think creatively and problem-solve under pressure, particularly when balancing competing priorities or responding to public concerns.
- Familiar with relevant legislation and guidance related to highways, traffic management and public realm improvements.
