About the role
Are you looking for a varied and interesting role which will provide numerous development opportunities?
The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguarding service provides a legal framework for service users who lack capacity and are deprived of their liberty in Care Quality Commission registered care homes and hospitals. The service is looking to recruit a Deprivation of Liberty Safeguarding Coordinator to support us to meet our statutory obligations. We offer a hybrid working style, successfully combining office and home working.
The post requires you to show that you have attention to detail to support the governance of legal timescales and scrutiny of statutory forms to uphold quality of practice under a legal framework. There is high activity within the team so you will need to be able to work effectively to meet the high demand within the statutory timescale.
The coordinator plays a key part:
- to coordinate the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards process for each service-user, including maintaining an effective overview.
- be the first point of contact, receive and screen incoming referrals according to operational procedures and ensure they are processed in a timely manner.
- provide advice and guidance to partner agencies and Adult Social Care colleagues, seeking support from Best Interests Assessors / Supervisor as appropriate.
- provide initial screening and quality assurance of reports submitted by Best Interests Assessors and Section 12 approved Doctors.
We are looking for candidates who can:
- quality assure referrals to ensure that information provided is accurate and relevant.
- negotiate with senior members of staff.
- use IT systems including the basic functions of the Microsoft Office suite i.e., word, excel and outlook.
- develop partnership working relationships and achieve positive outcomes.
- work positively and flexibly within a team environment, developing, and implementing proposals for change.
- interpret, analyse, organise complex information clearly, written and verbal.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

We may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
