About the Role

 

As a Waking Night Children’s Residential Worker, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of the children and young people in our care throughout the night. This vital role requires you to stay alert and responsive, making regular checks and offering care when needed. You’ll work closely with the team to maintain a warm, secure, and trauma-informed environment, ensuring that each child feels valued and cared for.

 

This role offers you the chance to develop deep, trusting relationships with the children, offering them comfort and security during the quiet hours of the night. You’ll be actively involved in maintaining the home’s routine, from preparing simple meals and helping with personal care to keeping the home safe and tidy. Whether you're ensuring the property is secure or contributing to care planning processes, your work will be integral to the smooth running of the home.

 

Beyond the immediate care responsibilities, this role gives you the opportunity to be part of a ground-breaking service, shaping the future of care in Blaenau Gwent. A key part of the role is ensuring the emotional and physical safety of children during the night, so you’ll need to be observant, proactive, and always ready to provide support when it’s needed.

 

You bring with you a deep sense of responsibility and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Whether it’s handling a late-night emergency or simply being there for a child who needs reassurance, you know how to handle challenging situations with care and professionalism. You’ll also have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all safeguarding, health, and safety standards are met throughout the night.
