About Us:
Centrally located between Nottingham and Derby with good transport links, Erewash is a diverse borough encompassing the towns of Long Eaton and Ilkeston. Erewash and West Nottinghamshire Building Consultancy are seeking to recruit a Senior Building Control Officer to work for one of the Midlands foremost local authority building control services.
About the Role:
You will help to successfully deliver the building control service, which includes plan checking and site inspections on domestic, commercial and mixed-use projects along with demolition licensing and a dangerous structure service to four local authorities – Erewash, Broxtowe, Mansfield and Ashfield.
We are fully committed to training and developing our staff and as a Senior Officer you will also provide support to other Building Control colleagues as well as mentoring Assistant Building Control Officers.
About You:
We are looking for someone who has excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with experience of forming and maintaining key relationships with partners and customers. You will have a high level of knowledge and understanding of building control legislation.
You must be a registered building inspector at minimum level 2 and be working towards level 3 specialist, and level 4 technical manager.
You should also have a relevant qualification in Building Surveying (or equivalent demonstrable experience) and corporate membership or working towards corporate membership with either the Chartered Association of Building Engineers, Chartered Institute of Building or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. Ideally you should also hold a postgraduate qualification in fire engineering or access studies and should achieve by assessment LABC level 6 Competency.
The usual place of work will be the Town Hall in Long Eaton; however, you may be required to work at other premises from time to time in order to undertake your duties. The post is full time, and the hours of work are 37 hours per week plus out of hours emergency standby, which is rota based.
