The Bridge Short Stay School are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant who will play a key role in the pastoral and academic support of Secondary aged students who display challenging behaviour. This role will involve working with individuals and groups in various contexts: to re-engage with learning; within lessons and delivering withdrawal interventions for targeted students and cover of lessons in the absence of teaching staff.
The Bridge primarily caters for students who have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools, we are passionate about providing a second chance for students who have struggled in their education and putting them on a pathway towards future success. The work is challenging and requires someone who can maintain a focus on the best interests of the student while demonstrating flexibility and resilience under pressure. In return the successful candidate would be supported in joining a committed and friendly team with the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people. This post would be an ideal opportunity for an individual who is seeking experience ahead of a career in Teaching.
The ability to support students with their learning, social and behavioural needs is essential. The right attitude and approach are more important to us than specific qualifications. The successful candidate will have high aspirations for our students while seeking to understand the challenges they’ve faced in education and be prepared to work with them to make changes to behaviour.
A desire and commitment to make a positive contribution to the life of the school and improve outcomes for young people are essential. We are looking for someone who will consistently demonstrate a positive attitude and a belief in the potential for change.
