The Dementia and Older People Team is a specialist multi-disciplinary team focusing on the needs of people living with the effects of cognitive impairment and dementia and older people with a functional mental illness. The Team provides specialist assessments and interventions embracing the Care Act, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Safeguarding investigations and protection of human rights and civil liberties.</p>\n\n<p>We work to a model embracing self-directed care, utilising strengths-based approaches, co-production and promoting independence. The team is multi-disciplinary, incorporating Community Mental Health Nurses, Approved Mental Health Professionals, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Support Workers and clerical staff.  The dementia service is age-independent and works across all areas of our diverse city.</p>\n\n<p>Your main duties will include the line management and professional governance of the Social Workers within the team, contributing to the AMHP Duty Rota both as an AMHP and Duty Senior, scrutinising applications for Community Care purchasing under The Care Act, chairing Best Interest Assessment meetings and helping oversee Safeguarding enquiries/investigations.</p>\n\n<p>For an informal discussion regarding the post please contact Simon McGarry - simon.mcgarry@coventry.gov.uk </p>\n\n<p>This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).</p>\n<b>Who are we looking for?</b><br><p>We are looking for a Team Leader who is also an Approved Mental Health Professional.
