About the role
In this role you will support the team to manage and deliver a range of housing services to tenants of St Albans City and District Council. This will be through the provision and application of specialist housing skills, knowledge, and expertise, which will support the Council in the delivery of services ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory provisions and corporate policy.
About you
The postholder will be an expert resource to the Neighbourhood Management Team and lead on all aspects of consultation and communication, strategy and policy as well as managing a small caseload of more complex housing management cases. The post holder will develop positive working relations with colleagues across the council in meeting the objectives of this post. This includes colleagues in Leasehold Management, Regulatory Services and Community Protection amongst others. The postholder will deputise for the Neighbourhood Management Team Leader in their absence.
A high level of professionalism, excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential for this role. You must also be confident and have experience in delivering high quality tenancy services to our customers.
You must be educated to degree level or will have 3 years previous experience of working in social housing in a front line service managing casework. Working knowledge of relevant legislation and legal procedures relating to tenancy management is essential for this role. A BTEC or equivalent in a Housing related subject is desirable as is demonstrable experience and commitment to tenant involvement and empowerment.
You must be IT literate and ideally be able to use a housing software system. You will be required to attend occasional evening meetings and evening working as needed from time to time. There is a requirement for you to also be available as part of the council’s emergency planning arrangements subject to service requirements. Post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Check.
