Ealing is often referred to as the ‘Queen of the Suburbs’ because of its award-winning parks, green spaces and a general ‘country in London’ feel and there’s never been a better time to join us. Ealing is also a culturally vibrant London Borough with thriving communities in the heart of West London, an enviable investment programme, served by a Council that is proactive, outcomes focused and ambitious about the future. Ealing’s Financial Services have been recognised nationally for excellence in supporting local businesses and residents during the pandemic, an approach that is central to our overarching ethos of service delivery.
If you’re ready to take the next step in your career, this is a fantastic opportunity to work strategically with a dynamic and progressive Finance leadership team led by the chief finance officer, contributing to shaping and influencing positive outcomes for residents.
As a Finance Manager in our Children’s Finance team, you will work at the heart of the Councils financial affairs, working closely with the Management Team to develop strategic, business, and financial plans that deliver best practice, sound financial governance and value for money.
This post will deliver a Finance Business Partnering support for the Children’s Directorate. You will lead delivery of the monthly Finance Monitor to the Department Management Teams and Strategic Leadership Team and ensure that the Council’s financial projections are robust. You will also have a great opportunity to support all the operational aspects of our Finance function – everything from preparing our annual revenue budget, closing, supporting projects, to coordinating advice on complex legislation and regulations. We will expect you to proactively contribute to the Budget, Budget Setting and Closure process.
You will need to hold a CCAB/CIMA qualification and you will also be a confident and articulate finance professional who understands and exemplifies effective relationship management and is committed to supporting services to perform at their best, shaped by quality service delivery and customer outcomes. You will be adept at explaining complex financial issues to non accountants.
Ealing is a great place to work and we offer a range of employee benefits, including flexible working, pension and, as importantly, a real opportunity to both make a difference and progress your career.
Our offices are easily accessed, located in a lively eclectic town centre, close to the transport links of Ealing Broadway, which is only be 14 minutes from central London on the Elizabeth Line. During the pandemic we have successfully delivered remote finance services and it is anticipated that we will continue to operate using a hybrid office environment for some time.
If you’re excited about what we’re offering and you’d like to know more, please contact Ruth Hodson (Hodsonr@ealing.gov.uk)
