Situated in Zone 5, Sutton is less than 30 minutes by train from central London, and south and south west London are easily accessible by public transport. There are 10 train stations which serve key neighbourhoods within the borough providing direct connections to London Victoria, London Bridge, London Blackfriars and St Pancras International. Sutton also has direct rail connections with Epsom, Dorking, Guildford and Horsham, as well as Wimbledon for an interchange with the London Underground and West Croydon for the London Overground. There's also an extensive road network which provides close and easy access to the M25 and M23.

The Commissioning Service shapes vital services-from children's and adult social care to education and wellbeing-ensuring quality through procurement, monitoring, and smart contract management. We drive innovation by challenging the status quo, fostering collaboration amongst stakeholders, and empowering service users to shape the services that impact their lives.
The primary responsibilities of the Children's Social Care Commissioning Team are to commission children's placements, post-16 support and accommodation for care experienced young people and unaccompanied asylum seeking young people and services for children with disabilities and their families.

- Drive the future of the borough's supported accommodation offer by designing, developing and delivering commissioning recommendations which make best use of the council's resources and deliver strong outcomes.
- Unite stakeholders - from young people and social care professionals to housing and support providers, housing and welfare professionals - to co-create, deliver and review an outstanding post-16 support and accommodation offer for vulnerable young people.
- Proactively review and ensure sufficiency of post-16 support and accommodation services to meet the evolving needs of our vulnerable young people.
- Actively monitor and manage supported accommodation contracted provision to achieve high-quality and cost-effective service delivery.
We're looking for someone to lead on the housing and support needs of vulnerable young people by working with Council professionals and delivery partners to commission effective support systems for young people in support of their successful journey to independence.
You will have:
- Proven ability to work confidently with other functions and partners to lead partnership work.
- Skill-set to develop and execute comprehensive commissioning strategies and recommendations to achieve desired outcomes.
- Knowledge of procurement and experience of procuring new services.
- Experience of designing and using performance management frameworks to achieve high quality service delivery.
- Excellent communication, negotiating and influencing skills.
- Strong data management and analytical skills.
- Understanding of children's social care commissioning, ideally home placements for 0 - 25 year olds - desirable
- Understanding of housing landscape - desirable
