Would you like to gain experience working in local government administration? This is your chance to join our Electoral, Democratic and Civic Services team and play a pivotal role in supporting the council's decision-making processes.
About the Role
As part of our small and friendly team, you will be at the heart of local democracy. Your primary responsibility will be to provide administrative support to the Electoral, Democratic and Civic Services team, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. Key tasks include organising meetings, supporting councillors, committees, and officers, and maintaining the council's constitutional processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Arranging and Coordinating Meetings: Ensure meetings are scheduled, documented, and effectively managed.
- Supporting Councillors and Committees: Provide essential support to elected members and committee operations.
- Administrative Excellence: Help officers to produce high-quality documents and handle sensitive issues with professionalism and courtesy.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an energetic and innovative thinker who thrives under pressure and can manage multiple demands. While experience in a similar environment is desirable, it is not essential if you possess the following skills:
- Excellent Communication Skills: Both written and oral.
- Strong Customer Service Skills: Demonstrating outstanding interpersonal abilities.
- Quick Learner: Ability to pick up new tasks swiftly.
- Effective Under Pressure: Capable of prioritising work to meet strict deadlines.
- Attention to Detail: Producing accurate and high-quality documents.
Additional Information
- Evening Meetings: You will be required to attend evening meetings occasionally (from 6.30 pm).
- Location – On occasion, you may be required to work at either of our Town Halls in Long Eaton or Ilkeston.
