We are seeking to recruit an experienced Rent Collection Officer for a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities:
As part of the Rent Collection Team, you will ensure our tenants pay their rent and arrears, while helping them sustain their tenancies as well as escalating arrears cases for court action when required. You will be:
- Collecting rent and arrears from tenants, whilst maintaining accurate and up to date records of all actions taken
- Supporting tenants in meeting payment obligations and negotiating payment plans
- Analysing casework to identify circumstances where customers have ceased to receive their full benefits entitlement and resolving account-related enquiries
- Contributing to maintaining high levels of rent collection performance
- Escalating cases for court action when required
Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for an open-minded, enthusiastic, and experienced candidate with:
- Rent collection experience in a housing environment
- Strong negotiation skills with a customer-focused approach
- A comprehensive knowledge of the pre-action protocol for social housing and relevant housing legislation, including welfare reforms, Universal Credit and Housing Benefit.
- Proficiency in IT, along with experience in credit control or debt management
- The ability to manage workloads in a target-driven environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well in a team
