Halton Borough Council has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced social work professional to join our Children’s Safeguarding Unit on a 12 month contract. We urgently need a full time Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO), known locally as an Independent Reviewing Manager. We are looking for a committed and passionate person who can start straight away.
The full time role involves chairing Child in Care Reviews. You will have responsibility for ensuring that each child has an outcome focused plan that meets their needs and is effectively implemented within agreed timescales in line with relevant statutory requirements.
The Council is invested in training and development and you will be supported by regular supervision and other reflection and learning opportunities. We are also committed to providing flexible working and a healthy work/life balance.
To be considered for interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:
- Experience of working within a broad knowledge of social work practice and legislation, experience as an IRO previously.
- An ability to demonstrate excellent skills at applying threshold and reviewing standards of practice.
- A passion for and experience of improving outcomes for children and young people.
- Registered with Social Work England.
- A Social Work degree or equivalent social work qualification.

The post of Conference and Reviewing Manager attracts an annual market supplement of £8,420. This amount will be paid by monthly instalments and is effective until 2027. This is subject to an earlier removal should there be rational to do so.
