This role is crucial in leading and managing the Policy & Performance team, ensuring the effective delivery of corporate policies, performance management, and strategic initiatives.</p>\n<p><strong>The Role:</strong> As the Head of Policy & Performance, you will:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead and manage the Policy & Performance team, overseeing policy, performance management, climate change, organisational development, HR, corporate health & safety, communications, social media, policy research, and data.</li>\n<li>Provide strategic leadership for communications and social media services.</li>\n<li>Champion Elmbridge’s commitments to Climate Change and carbon neutral targets, embedding climate change throughout the council’s strategies and plans.</li>\n<li>Provide leadership for our HR function.</li>\n<li>Develop and implement strategies and policies to improve council services in line with priorities.</li>\n<li>Lead on community safety and economic development services, maintaining strong relationships with partners and stakeholders.</li>\n<li>Oversee emergency planning and business continuity, acting as a strategic advisor during emergencies.</li>\n<li>Manage budgets and contract arrangements for various services.</li>\n<li>Act as a strategic advisor to the Chief Executive and Council Management Board</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>About You:</strong> To be successful in this role, you will need:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proven experience in developing policy, managing projects and programmes, and advising elected members.</li>\n<li>Strong performance management, communication, and HR management skills.</li>\n<li>Proven ability to lead organisational change programmes and local government reorganisation.</li>\n<li>Excellent management, motivational, and empowerment skills.</li>\n<li>High presentational skills, both written and oral.</li>\n<li>Ability to achieve results in a political environment and work under pressure.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Why Work for Us:</strong> Elmbridge Borough Council offers a supportive and inclusive working environment.
