About the role
Would you like to be part of a creative and highly supportive Educational Psychology Service (EPS), learning to apply psychology to improve outcomes for children, young people/adults, their families, and staff in a range of educational settings? Are you interested in applying to train on the Educational Psychology Doctorate course?
If you are, we can offer you an Assistant Educational Psychology role in Hastings, with all the experience and support you need to go on to apply to train as an Educational Psychologist.
As an Assistant Educational Psychologist, you will learn about and support the work of our Educational Psychologists and make a unique contribution to the inclusion of children and young people in their schools and colleges.
Working with East Sussex EPS is an extremely supportive experience, as our service is based on shared values and a shared love of learning. You will be part of a small team of Assistant Educational Psychologists, Trainee Educational Psychologists, and Educational Psychologists who are all very friendly and collaborative in their work. Our service is highly regarded alongside a wide range of other early intervention and inclusion services.
We are looking for candidates who:
- Are reflective and want to learn.
- Can take an active role in creating positive change.
- Remain non-judgemental when encountering difficult interactions.
- Enable children and young people to participate meaningfully in decisions that affect them.
- Actively promote and support educational and social inclusion.

You will have autonomy and flexibility in terms of working hours and up to two days per week working from home. There is a generous travel allowance. You’ll be working in a beautiful and varied environment, including coastal, rural, and urban, with each presenting unique challenges and rewards. Please note that this role requires county-wide travel where public transport infrastructure is often limited.
