HCC Services for Young People is the primary provider of youth work, career education information advice guidance and work-related learning in Hertfordshire.

We work with vulnerable young people to address emerging needs, improve life chances, and reduce escalation to more expensive and intensive services. This includes supporting those challenged in education, their community or home life, to ensure a successful transition to adulthood. We predominantly work with young people aged 11-17 and up to 25 for those with SEND and Care Leavers.

All positions are permanent and full time (37 hours a week), in line with JNC terms and conditions.
About the roles
You'll be delivering important targeted work, working with the most vulnerable young people. This will involve leading on group work projects with support from Youth Support Workers and delivering one to one support. By delivering this work, you can make a real difference to young people's lives.
You would be giving young people support at an early stage, preventing their issues from seriously affecting their daily life, health, development, or safety.
We are looking for candidates who can quickly establish positive relationships with diverse groups of young people and respond flexibly to their needs and the priorities of the service.

- You'll either need a nationally recognised JNC qualification or the ability to complete the JNC high education qualification.
- Recent experience of working with young people.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to prioritise workload and planning.
- Ability to work regular evenings in line with JNC terms and conditions.
- Confident in using ICT.
- Previous line management experience is desirable.
- You will be required to travel across the county so access to a vehicle is essential.
Senior Youth Worker & Youth Work Development Worker:
- You must hold a nationally recognised JNC
- Have a wealth of recent experience of working with young people, the ability to demonstrate clear learning outcome and achieve targets.
- Comprehensive ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with young people, adults, and others e.g., report writing, making presentations and facilitation of groups.
- Ability to work regular evenings in line with JNC terms and conditions.
- Previous experience of staff performance management.
- You will be required to travel across the county so access to a vehicle is essential.
