About Us: Rochford District Council are committed to providing excellent services to our community. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Licensing Officer to join our team and help us manage and oversee all licensing functions.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and well organised person, with a genuine interest in Licensing and an eye for detail. You will be a self-motivated team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise confidently with staff and customers, whilst carrying out your role accurately and sensitively.
You will join a small friendly team, who have a busy and varied role, processing applications and issuing licences for alcohol, taxis, gambling, charitable collections, scrap metal dealers and road closures. The role involves phone calls with customers and processing and issuing licences. No two days are the same and you will be given support and on the job training to help you carry out a wide variety of tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and process licensing applications across various functions, including alcohol, entertainment, and animal licensing.
- Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
- Investigate complaints and take appropriate enforcement actions.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to applicants, license holders, and the public.
- Prepare reports and present findings to committees and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a licensing role, preferably within a local government setting.
- Strong knowledge of licensing laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Required Qualifications:
- Certification in Licensing or Regulatory Services (desirable).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in using licensing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
