About us
The Local Government Association (LGA) is the national membership body for local authorities. We work on behalf of our member councils to support, promote and improve local government.
We are a politically led, cross-party organisation that works on behalf of councils to ensure local government has a strong, credible voice with national government. We influence and set the political agenda on the issues that matter to councils to help them deliver local solutions to national problems.
We also provide councils with the tools and resources to respond to challenges present and emerging, and support improvement across the sector.
About the role

The role will include the direct delivery of improvement support, including scoping, planning for and delivering our flagship Corporate Peer Challenge offer and other tailored improvement work with councils.
The role will also include providing key data and intelligence to the regional teams about our councils and the success of our delivery programmes. That research, data and intelligence we gather and utilise, both for our councils and the sector as a whole will be key to anticipating and managing the challenges and opportunities ahead.
This post will also be pivotal in working with our member and officer peers to help deliver key programmes of work within and across the region, such as mentoring support or change of control work at local election time.
The Regional Advisor is the glue that helps hold our teams together, actively supporting councils but ensuring our recording and sharing of data and information remains front and centre in our work.

The successful candidate with have an enquiring mind, an aptitude for building relationships and working on multiple, varied projects at any given point.
You should have a well-developed understanding of local government and the challenges it faces as well as experience of successful project management.
You need great communication and organisational skills and the ability to pull together briefings from a range of data sources and draw out the key issues. You may also have experience of organising and facilitating workshops or events.
