About the team
The Payroll Service Desk provides support to Schools and Academies, Council Departments, and Traded Companies. This is a busy team that deal with a high volume of calls and emails from headteachers, managers, employees and clients.
The team play a key role in a larger HR and Payroll team, being the first point of contact for queries, providing first level advice, liaising with other teams to help resolve, and escalating to other teams where required.
About the role
This role primarily focuses on providing support to school's within the Payroll Service Desk, you will be responsible for handling phone calls, incoming emails and responding to queries submitted via the Payroll Service Desk Portal.
You will receive queries from a variety of sources including, headteachers, school office staff, school employees and external partners.
You will be required to respond to their queries accurately and efficiently providing excellent customer service.
You will support other teams in the department by liaising with them to help resolve queries, and ensuring complex cases are assigned to the right areas.
You will investigate thoroughly any problems raised by customers and resolve them in a timely manner, ensuring all parties are kept regularly informed.
You will work as part of a team, supporting each other and working closely together.
In addition, you will also carry out payroll checking once a month, ensuring data is correct on the system and identifying any potential overpayments or problems.
You will seek to improve the service, identifying any service improvements to management.

About you
Essential:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Professional and confident telephone manner
- Experience in using Microsoft Office applications
- Previous experience in Payroll or a Customer Service role.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- Knowledge of Schools, particularly green book or School teachers pay and conditions.
- Knowledge of SAP
