Folkestone & Hythe is a dynamic and innovative place to live, work and visit.
Recognised by Best Companies as an outstanding organisation to work for, we have a real focus on health & wellbeing and staff development, and an excellent benefits package that includes corporate membership, discount and salary sacrifice schemes, up to 31 days holiday and Christmas closure, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, and much, much more.
Our offices are based in the heart of Folkestone, with easy access to transport links, local shops, entertainment facilities and the seafront. In addition, we have an agile working culture that supports and encourages flexible and remote/home working.
This role focuses on the delivery of statutory food safety and health and safety in the workplace functions.
The role of the Environmental Health team is to protect and enhance public health and the environment as required by statute and the policies of Central Government and the Council. This includes taking appropriate enforcement action as required.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role helping us deliver our goals; making a difference to our community.
In order to be successful you will need to be an experienced Environmental Health Officer with registration to the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) and/or the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Professional Registers.
You’ll also have the ability to organise and prioritise work effectively in order to meet deadlines and maintain high quality of services at all times. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships within the team and the wider organisation are essential.
Above all else, if you’re a team player with the flexibility, initiative and drive to not only contribute to the success of our dedicated Environmental Health team but to the Council as a whole, then we want to hear from you.
This role will require travelling throughout the district and visiting premises at evenings and weekends.
We have a hybrid working approach with an expectation that you will work from the Civic Centre in Folkestone at least one day per week.
