The Role
Lancaster City Council’s award-winning Home Improvement Agency provides a valuable service to older and disabled vulnerable residents throughout the Lancaster district. The aim of the service is to assist residents to remain independent in their own homes, by finding ways to adapt and repair homes. An exciting opportunity has arisen in the team for an Assistant Caseworker. The post holder will support the delivery of Home Improvement Agency services, including visiting clients in their own homes and by providing general administrative support to the Home Improvement Agency.
The post holder will have the ability to work with minimal supervision and be capable of prioritising workloads. You will have direct contact with colleagues in other services, key partner organisations and members of the public. You will have excellent numeracy, keyboard and communication skills and will be committed to high standards of customer service.
This post is temporary for 12 months. Subject to funding and business demands, this could potentially be extended. The hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday 9.00 until 5.00 pm. This post will be classed as a hybrid worker with the ability to work from home and council sites within the district.
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to carry out home visits throughout the district. As a result you will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees driving licence data.
The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
