Opportunity for you:
Barnsley Adult Social Care has an exciting opportunity for the position of Team Manager – the team is made up of both qualified social workers and assistant social care practitioners.
We are looking to appoint someone who holds a social work or equivalent nursing/OT/physio qualification, who can lead and support the team working borough wide. The work the team does is diverse – working with adults over the age of 18 years who are considered to be vulnerable and in need of support, supporting those also with physical disabilities and those in the later years of their lives. The areas covered have various demographics where new dynamics and approaches are required.
What you’ll need:
If you are great at -
· Leading a team with a strength-based approach
· Making complex decisions, providing solutions and enabling those with the most complex lives
· Carrying out reflective supervision with qualified social workers
· Working alongside other managers in the other teams and reporting to the service manager
· Change management is a key part of the role – recognising the changes in adult social care are ongoing
· Working at the management level evidencing this as your area of interest
· Making sure key decisions are made promptly incorporating risk assessments and legally compliant practices
· Leadership skills and in-depth knowledge of working with adults and adult social care
· Managing attendance, recruitment/coaching
You will also need knowledge of:
· The legal frameworks that guide and influence the work of Adult Social Care
· The Discharge to Assess procedures,
· The Care Act 2014
· The Mental Capacity Act 2005
· DoLS
· The Human Rights Act 1989
· The Mental Health Act 1983
As part of this role, you may Chair safeguarding meetings, including organisational, and best interest meetings and support and advise staff when making applications to the Court of Protection. This will mean working with the Care Act/ adult safeguarding procedures and the Making Safeguarding Personal agenda.
You will be part of supporting the service’s operational side, making sure that performance information is shared with senior managers, and working alongside the broader management team.
A multi-disciplinary approach is a key part of the role, including considering integrated care systems. You will need knowledge of all the work being done across the service, including reablement/initial response, and D2a. As a manager, you will need to be innovative and creative in approaches to improving performance. You will require knowledge of the adult social care reforms to ensure the workforce is ready for CQC visits and quality assurance.
