This is an exciting opportunity to join Barnsley Children’s Services and have a key role in shaping and developing practice. We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed Project Manager to work alongside our Strategic Head of Service Lead to implement the new children social care reforms.

About the role:
In November 2024 the government published ‘Keeping Children Safe, Helping Families thrive’ an ambitious programme of transformation for children social care and our partners. This will require whole-system approach to reforming services which will include considering the end-to-end system of support from universal services through to care. As a Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the successful implementation and integration of the new children social care reforms. You will work closely with the Strategic Head of Service lead, various stakeholders, including, social care teams, and key partners including Police, Health and Education to ensure the reforms are effectively embedded into practice.
Key Responsibilities:
· Having key responsibility for keeping clear records relating to plans, progress and reporting
· Be responsible for escalating any risks associated with the delivery of the overarching plan
· Coordinate and manage the implementation of children social care reforms across multiple areas
· You will play a key role in undertaking preparatory activities continuously providing assurance on the quality and impact of our services delivered.
· Monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of the reforms, providing regular reports to senior management
· Engage with national, regional and local stakeholders (where required) to share and gather feedback and ensure compliance with reform requirements
· Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to the reforms.
· Organize and participate in meetings, planning, workshops, and events to promote the reforms
Qualifications and Experience:
As a project manager you will need a minimum of a level 6 qualification and relevant programme or project management training. You will need experience of continuous service improvement and associated governance and assurance frameworks, with a strong enthusiasm for improving service delivery. You will need the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and you will need to be highly organised with the ability to prioritise conflicting workloads, working flexibly on your own initiative. An understanding or experience or working with children’s services would be desirable.
