We are looking for an experienced Children's Social Care Assistant Team Manager or aspiring Senior Social Worker, with management and supervisory experience, to join our Family Safeguarding Team, to make a difference to the lives of children and young people.
You will deputise when required for the Team Manager and work closely alongside them to deliver our vision and strategic values. You will have direct responsibility for social workers, including newly qualified social workers, students and support staff. You will support the Team Manager to drive performance, ensure the right plans are in place and needs lead services and intervention are provided for children and families.
We will expect you to deputise for the Team Manager when required and support them across a range of areas, including recruitment and retention of staff and the chairing of meetings.
You will have the ability to build strong relationships, showcasing excellent assessment and analytical skills. With a deep understanding of assessment, planning, and intervention, you will contribute effectively as a key member of the management team.
Registration with Social Work England is essential, as well as having significant post qualifying experience working with children and families in the statutory sector.

The Family Safeguarding Team is a stable and established multi-agency group of talented professionals who work collaboratively with specialist practitioners in domestic abuse, mental health and substance misuse as part of our embedded family safeguarding approach. With a strong focus on providing both high support and high challenge, the team enables you to deliver your best to the families who need it most.
We focus on longer term intervention, following transfer from our front door we undertake statutory social work interventions, including child in need, child protection, CLA and court proceedings.

Key responsibilities
- To support the Team Manager with managing a team, including recruitment/retention, induction, training and development, performance support and management, disciplinary/capability, and succession planning.
- Providing high quality, reflective supervision (in line with the supervision policy) including providing feedback and analysis of performance.
- To lead on Strategy Discussions, Child in Need meetings, professional meetings and other forums, working together with partner agencies to conclude with safe and proportionate threshold decision and planning.
- To undertake regular reviews of, and track, performance data alongside the Team Manager. Complete audits and contributing to audit programmes and frameworks.
- To promote listening to children and young people at every opportunity, ensuring their views are heard, recorded and acted upon in an appropriate and timely manner.
- To actively engage with parents and carers so that their views contribute to service improvement, including responding to complaints and feedback.
