We are seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to join The Children’s Specialist Support Team on a part time contract who has experience in community settings.

About the team…
The Children’s Specialist Support Team (CSST) is a highly skilled team working with children who have disabilities and/or complex health needs. We are an experienced, friendly and supportive team who focus on ensuring that children are at the centre of all we do. We provide a range of services for children with additional needs and those who are assessed to have additional vulnerability. This includes the council’s statutory responsibilities for disabled children in need in the community (including care packages and short breaks).
The team is an eclectic mix of different service areas covering a wide breadth of work with children with disabilities, including occupational therapy and short breaks (including Larchwood, our short break respite unit). We take a child first approach and embrace the social model, recognising that partnership and collaboration are essential to our success
Key responsibilities...
- To work with children, young people and their parents/carers to coordinate the identification of their needs.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments of individuals including those with diverse or complex presentations to develop person-centred SMART Goals and support plans designed to meet needs in ways that maximises independence, choice and control, and are legal and affordable.
- To work as part of the multidisciplinary team, participating in the development of services and other staff, providing direction and assistance to support workers, other members of the team and students.
- Take an active part in your own supervision and appraisal and to supervise and appraise allocated staff in accordance with the departmental supervision policy and council’s appraisal policy.
- To be responsible for your continuous professional development, ensuring your practice is up-to-date and evidence based, attending all mandatory training and specialist training where appropriate.
