We have recently delivered a very successful election for the London Mayoral and Assembly elections and a parliamentary general election, with staff demonstrating high levels of commitment, strong technical skills and collaboration. </p>\n<p>We are now looking for a skilled elections specialist to act as deputy to the electoral services manager and to take the lead on key work steams. </p>\n<p>You will assist Electoral Services Manager with the efficient delivery of the electoral registration service and the running of elections, with specific responsibilities for canvass, temporary staff and payroll. When necessary, you will deputise for the Electoral Services Manager.</p>\n<p>You will work closely with other departments across the Council as we increasingly commission logistics, property and other services in support of election activity. The role will foster good working relationships with members of the public and councillors, and with other key partners.</p>\n<p>Other key projects include boundary reviews and responding to new legislative proposals.</p>\n<p>Brent prides itself on its culture and the council is passionate about improving services, putting customers at its heart and supporting its staff. This is a politically restricted post.</p>\n<div><strong>The Person</strong></div>\n<p>We are looking for a candidate with sound knowledge of electoral legislation combined with good management skills. You will have experience of running elections and canvass, and an ability to gain trust of people at all levels and from different political parties. The role will have responsibility for large numbers of polling and count staff. Therefore, experience of managing and motivating teams to deliver high quality services and change priorities at speed is necessary. </p>\n<p>You will need to demonstrate awareness of what local government is and does, and the financial, political, and legislative context in which it operates.
