We have an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking, highly organised and professional individual to join our Safe Homes Team as a Safe Homes Surveyor. In this role, you will be at the forefront of ensuring fire safety and compliance within our buildings, playing a critical part in maintaining the safety and well-being of everyone living in, working in, or visiting our properties.

As a Safe Homes Surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting cyclical inspections and maintenance of fire doors, ensuring they meet all safety standards. You will develop project briefs, manage budgets for capital and maintenance projects, and provide expert advice on fire safety issues. Your role will involve staying updated with advancements in fire door technology and industry best practices, incorporating these updates into our inspection and maintenance procedures.

Collaboration is key in this role. You will work closely with colleagues across the Housing Service to manage budgets effectively and ensure our communal areas remain safe. Partnering with contractors, you will oversee pre and post inspections to ensure work is completed to a satisfactory standard. Additionally, you will assist in formulating future maintenance plans and develop a five-year cyclical works plan for fire door maintenance.

The ability to remain calm and methodical when dealing with challenging situations is crucial. You will need to provide accurate technical and practical advice to customers and colleagues, ensuring that their inquiries are handled promptly and appropriately. Building strong, meaningful relationships with colleagues, contractors, and various stakeholders is essential. Tact, diplomacy, and analytical skills will be key to your success in this role.

You should be self-motivated, able to work independently, and also work effectively as part of a team. The role requires flexibility, including the ability to work outside normal office hours to meet the demands of the service.
